Western Carolina University

Western Carolina University (WCU) is a public university located in Cullowhee, North Carolina. It is part of the University of North Carolina system. Established in 1889, WCU boasts a student population of around 12,000 and offers a variety of programs.

Western Carolina University, a public institution, has been a part of the University of North Carolina system since 1972. WCU offers degrees in more than 120 areas of study, including engineering, business administration, education, fine arts, natural science, nursing, and more. The campus of WCU is located in Cullowhee, North Carolina which is a small town located in the vicinity of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. The location hence provides students with ample opportunities to engage in various outdoor activities. The student life at WCU is quite active with students partaking in over 170 student clubs and organizations. The university's athletic team participate majorly in NCAA Division I Southern Conference and are known as the Catamounts. The university's mission is dedicated towards enhancing student-faculty interaction, promoting undergraduate research, integrating learning with experience, and teaching students to synthesize and communicate knowledge.
