Yamagata University was founded in 1949 by merging Yamagata High School, Yonezawa Higher school, and Yamagata Normal School. Today, it stands as a comprehensive university encompassing seven graduate schools and six undergraduate faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Science, Medical Science, Engineering, and Agriculture. Aside from providing excellent academic programs, Yamagata University is also actively involved in numerous research activities across disciplines.
